Very easy to use; working perfectly so far. - I have an old camcorder with internal hard drive that I use to shoot underwater videos. I used to be able to transfer videos directly to iMovie, but after recent iMovie update the camcorder is no longer recognized. Because it stores files in .MTS format iMovie not import it. In fact I could not even open up clips to view them. I was obviously irritated, as I spent over $1000 for waterproof housing, filters and accessories; and I thought I will have to trash the camcorder. Luckily I was able to find this app that very painlessly convert these to Quicktime-friendly .mov format. One of the really nice feature of the app is that I don’t even have to dig out .MTS files: I can just “drop” the camcorder hard drive into the app and proper files are automatically loaded up. It’s nice being able to load up bunch of videos at the same time. It’s a very easy app to use and the ability to select the destination for converted clips is a real treat! To sum it up, this app saved me thousands of dollars t I would have had to spend on new camcorder and housing.

Has no business being called “Pro' - Any converter that is as slow as this one and that does not include AVCHD to ProRes as one of its outputs should not be called “PRO.” Most pros use ProRes in Final Cut Pro. Final Cut has not made it easy to transfer AVCHD into FCP 7 (which for many remains the preferred version) and the purpose of a third-party converter is to facilitate what cannot be done otherwise. Further the “force conversion of AVCHD” option defaults to the OFF position, creating the appearance of a fast conversion when in fact the final output is riddled with unstable frames, rendering it unusable by pros. Turning ON the “force conversion” results in one of the slowest conversions I have seen to date, the reward for which is an H264 format which must then be RE-RENDERED using some other program into ProRes 422 so that it can be used by FCP.Part of the problem lies in FCP’s whacked and wonky file and transfer function, it is true, but either SmartConverter Pro should add an AVCHD to ProRes422 option to its paid app version or it should not be called “Pro.” Pros who haven’t migrated to Premier or FCP X simply cannot use this program, and if they HAVE, they have no need of this program. A waste of $$.

App is Broken upon download - I used the free version and decided to upgrad. When attempting to open the app after dowloading the app, the app was 'damaged' and could not get the app to work at all.
